WELCOME SESSION

with Fred Jacoby

Welcome to Day 2 of the Grace for the Broken: Preventing Ministry Burnout Virtual Summit. Yesterday was a full day, wasn't it? I am hopeful that those sessions were a blessing to you and have equipped you for ministry.

Today, I want to challenge us to consider the term "Capacity" - How can we increase our capacity?

1. Shift our perspective from what is happening to us to what is happening in us.

2. Address the idols in our hearts.

3. Share our burdens with others.

4. Understand your worth found in Christ and not in your performance.

Please join our Facebook group and continue this conversation with us over the coming months! There is still so much to cover and understand.

This summit is brought to you in part by Total Ministry Health and was put together by The Hively Co.

REKINDLING THE FLAME

with Bob Shull

Welcome to Day 2 of the Grace for the Broken: Preventing Ministry Burnout Virtual Summit. Today, we have the privilege of hearing from Bob Shull as he shares personal reflections from his own burnout experience and offers 9 practical steps for rekindling the flame and serving from abundance.

Bob has been an ordained pastor since 1989. He has enjoyed people of all ages and the privilege of preaching, teaching, and counseling from the Word of God. After graduating with a B.S. degree from Miami University (Ohio) and a M.S. degree from Penn State University, Bob had several different careers (including teaching, graphic design, and advertising) before going to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and graduating with a Master of Divinity degree in 1989. From there he served as an associate pastor, church planter, interim pastor, and head of staff. One of Bob’s primary lifetime counselors has been his father, and the two co-authored Simply Leading: Creating the Future With God. His goal in counseling is to help people experience the fullness of life God intends for them in Jesus Christ, who said “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). This means learning to apply the Gospel to our lives, particularly in the struggles and challenges we all face at times.
